It was a sparkly Sutho start to the season on Saturday night
It’s been quite a while – ages in fact – but we have hockey back at home tomorrow. According to the weather gurus, it’s likely to be ultra-damp, but that won’t dampen the spirits of everyone who will finally get a chance at that long-awaited hit out.
We had hoped to have a couple of men’s games at home tomorrow, but Briars forfeited this afternoon in 4th grade and our 5th-grade team moved its match to Moorebank where it can support 6ths.
Our Under 15 and Under 17 Metro teams will be playing their second 2022 matches tonight; they’re away at Ryde.
Tomorrow morning the U11A Geckos host Moorebank at Sutho, followed by our U13B Thorny Devils playing Glebe Hornets, then the juniors wrap up with the U15B Blue Tongues against Uni of UNSW’s Humpbacks. Everyone else is away.
Our Premier League men’s teams (1-3) start 2022 with a bye tomorrow before getting into action next weekend. They won’t be at home until April 9 when UNSW visit.
Our women’s teams get their 2022 campaigns underway with teams playing across three competitions: Sydney South, Sydney East and the Metropolitan League of the Sydney Women’s Hockey League. In ML we have been promoted to 4th grade and will field a second team, in 6th grade, for the first time. Go, ladies.
A big shout out to the Uni of NSW teams who played a series of practice matches against several of our men’s teams last weekend. It was greatly appreciated, although there were reportedly some pretty sore people around on Sunday.
Here’s a gallery of some of the action, which was a prelude to a great 20022 season opener held at the club. A big crowd had a fantastic night, and sincere thanks must go to our Social Convenor, Kristen, and her team for making it such a successful night.
And here’s a few more shots
