Sutho Women Success

The Sutherland Women’s Hockey team has proven to be a powerhouse in the Sydney Women’s Hockey League (SWHL), continuing to dominate the competition since expanding into the league in 2020. Over the past few years, the team has topped the competition, showcasing their skill, teamwork, and determination.

The club currently fields two women’s teams in the SWHL competition, now competing in the ML2 and ML4 divisions. Both teams share a strong passion for the game, with players of all levels coming together to contribute to the team’s ongoing success. Their commitment has helped foster a competitive yet inclusive environment, providing a clear pathway for local players to develop their skills.

Craig Turner, now entering his third season as head coach of Sutherland Women’s Hockey, has been a driving force behind Sutho 1’s continued success. Known for his ability to develop the individual skills of each player to improve the overall team’s performance, Turner takes a holistic approach to coaching. His success can partly be attributed to supporting the on-field performance but also the off-field skills like fitness, mindset and personal growth of all of his players and the larger squad.

Sutherland’s achievements reflect not only the talent within the teams but also the club’s dedication to promoting women’s sport in the region. As the teams continue to excel, their impact on the local community grows, inspiring future generations of female hockey players.

With continued support and growth, the future looks bright for Sutherland Women’s Hockey as they aim for even more success in the seasons ahead.
